In 1957, Walter Shipley started a business to provide fire extinguisher service to businesses in East Tennessee. Fifty-one years later, Knox Fire Extinguisher Co, 1201 University Avenue, has expanded its operation into additional areas. Today's owner, Lonnie Parrott, is determined to make sure that the company meets the needs of all customers. Parrot began working for the company in 1969. Two years ago, he bought Knox Fire Extinguisher Co. At present, the company employs eight. Every employee is state-certified and licensed for sales and service of all fire extinguishers.
